What if, for once, we got the local church involved in transforming their own communities—not just with words, but with action? Imagine each church stepping out and owning the five blocks around their front door. That’s 10,000 blocks of Jacksonville loved, served, and renewed by the people who live there.
As Mayor, I believe the strength of this city doesn’t come from government programs alone—it comes from neighbors loving neighbors. It starts with us. It starts with the church. It starts with Love Your Block.
The Vision:
Empower local churches to take spiritual and social ownership of the five blocks surrounding their buildings. Through service, partnerships, and love, we build stronger, safer, and more connected communities.
The Plan:
Block Adoption
Churches “adopt” the five-block radius around them and begin serving with intentionality and consistency.
Microgrants & City Support
City-provided microgrants ($1K–$5K) help churches fund local projects—cleanup days, youth mentorships, community meals, etc.
Training & Resources
The city offers workshops, a starter toolkit, and access to city liaisons for hands-on support.
Volunteer Mobilization
Congregations become the hands and feet of change—beautifying neighborhoods, helping the elderly, mentoring youth, and more.
Measure & Celebrate
Track impact. Share stories. Honor churches that go above and beyond at an annual “Love Your Block” Celebration.
